Citroën has launched a Facebook app calling for users to select design features for what it calls a special edition car, the first crowdsourced car in the UK. Rather than the genuinely design-led competitions we've seen recently from Renault (Twizy) and Citroën's own DS3, ‘You Like It, We Make It', offers six configurations such as exterior and interior color scheme, technology options like Bluetooth and SatNav, alloys, and the number of doors the vehicle has. The Citroeën C1 Connexion special edition will be kitted out with the most popular ideas and those participating via the app will be in with a chance of winning the car when it goes on sale later in the year.
Akihiro Dezi Nagaya has moved from his position as chief designer at Toyota to Yamaha Motor Company, where he will take up the post of chief general manager of design. The move became effective on 1 July, and sees Nagaya move from his position as CEO of Tecno Art Research, a freelance design office for Toyota projects located in Nagoya, Japan. His replacement at Tecno Art Research is Hiroshi Kawahara, Toyota's former general manager of advanced design.

The 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show saw the arrival of the Infiniti Q30 compact hatch as a concept, with plans to put it in to production in 2015 at Nissan’s plant in Sunderland. And it will be joined by the Infiniti QX30 compact SUV. Based on the underpinnings of the Mercedes A-Class, the new Infiniti Q30 is Infiniti’s first foray in to the compact market, and it seems Infiniti are keen to simultaneously tap in to the compact SUV market with the higher-riding QX30 as Infiniti’s take on the Mercedes GLA.
